Israel's diamond industry in 2004: polished exports up 14.4%

"2004 was a record-breaking year for the Israel diamond industry, both in polished and rough exports, and in rough imports to Israel, significantly strengthening Israel's position on the world diamond map," Israel Diamond Exchange president Shmuel Schnitzer said today. He said that, in addition to an improvement in world economic conditions, industry growth in Israel resulted from major investments in marketing, development of rough sources, R&D and cooperation with the government.
